84.4Km For Lucy

On October 11th, Luke and Isabel are running 84.4km… between the two of them. We think 84.4km each might be a little beyond our athletic ability… for now. When we line up at the start of the Melbourne Marathon, with the hot air balloons above us, it will have been five years since our Mum, Lucy, passed away. Five years ago, we had our last family holiday together, where we went up in a hot air balloon. When we’re at the start line, we’re sure we’ll both be thinking back to that hot air balloon ride with her. Lucy was incredibly loving and caring, with a quick wit and a way of making everyone around her feel loved. She was also one of the strongest and most determined people we knew. She was the best Mum, and we wouldn’t be half of who we are today without her, and definitely wouldn’t be able to run 42.2km each. Lucy fought cancer for five years. During the final month of her life, palliative care made an incredibly difficult time a little easier for her and her loved ones. That’s why we’re raising money for Palliative Care South East, a not-for-profit close to where Lucy was born and grew up. We believe everyone deserves compassionate care at the end of their life, as well as support for their families and friends. Any donation, big or small, would mean so much to us. Luke & Isabel
